Atlanta-based and Savannah-raised, Clay James is an African-American hip-hop artist & fashion enthusiast taking the music scene by storm. The southern rising-star takes pride in pushing the culture forward, but also pays homage and appreciates the foundations laid by the hip-hop legends who came before him. His influences include: Jay-Z, Nas, Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Outkast, UGK, & Notorious B.I.G!
Clay has been pursuing a career in music since 2010. Around 2014, Clay caught the eyes of fellow Savannah native, Big Boi from southern rap duo Outkast and this landed him a mentorship with the hip-hop legend. In 2016 at the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas Clay caught the eyes of some associates of west coast rap legend Snoop Dogg. Snoop liked Clay’s image, music, & work ethic so much that he gave him his 1st record deal to his independent label “DoggyStyle Records”.
James is no longer on Doggy Style Records but Snoop remains a close ally in his music career and campaign. Currently Clay is an independent artist and is sponsored by online retailer and headshop giant, Smoke Cartel.
